Checklist/Things to Consider for Site Preparation
There are many things to consider when selection a site and preparing it for the installation of your metal building. You must be sure that the building will abide by your local county or city and your site must be prepared properly to insure that your building will have the correct foundation to anchor.
Checking with the county/city regarding permits & codes
Before any building is delivered and installed, be sure to check with your local building departments to see if you need any special building permits. If a permit is required, most counties and cities have websites your can visit that will have all the necessary paperwork and applications for permit. Location
It is important to select a site that will be accommodating to the metal building you are purchasing. The site will need to safe and able to accessible to the installers so they can safely erect your metal building. If there are any electrical wires or water pipes that have been run prior to the installation, please be sure they are marked and made visible for the installation crew. Also, call 811 to have any underground utilities marked to avoid possible problems during the installation process.
Groundwork preparation
When you order your new custom metal building, you need to decide what kind of foundation it will be installed on. Your new metal building can be installed on soil foundation, concrete foundation, asphalt or other foundation material. Depending on the type of foundation you decide, there will be different steps to take to prepare your site.
Proper Foundation
You can choose many different foundations for your new custom metal building. A soil foundation, concrete foundation, asphalt foundation, or other foundation types are suitable for your new metal building. In all cases, all vegetation, grass, and small plants should be removed so as to not weaken the ground. The site must be leveled and firm enough for the installers to use ground anchors or to pour a concrete foundation.
Removal of all Barriers & Barricades
The site you choose for your new custom metal building must be free of other structures or obstructions that will impede the installers from access to the site. Fencing, shrubs, trees, and other buildings must be considered and removed if they will not allow the installers free access to install the metal building properly. The installers must be able to park within 50 feet of the installation site or there may be additional charges for the extra distance.
